Privacy Policy for Park Assistant
Last Updated: October 16, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how "Park Assistant" (the "App") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our mobile application. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to protecting it.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Park Assistant! Our App is designed to provide a simple and effective solution to help you save and find your parked vehicle's location. All data you generate is stored exclusively on your own device. We, the developers, do not have access to your personal data.
2. Information We Collect
The App collects the following types of information, which are stored locally on your device only:
- Location Data:
- Precise Geolocation: We collect your precise latitude and longitude when you save a parking location. This is the core functionality of the App.
- User-Generated Content:
- Parking Details: Information you voluntarily provide about your parking spot, such as a custom name (e.g., "Home," "Work"), floor number, spot number, and written notes.
- Photos: Images you choose to capture with your device's camera or select from your photo library to associate with a parking location.
- User Information: Your name and vehicle details (brand, model) if you choose to enter them in the settings. This information is optional.
- Usage and Preference Data:
- Parking History: A log of your past parking locations, including time, location, and any associated details.
- Application Preferences: Settings you configure within the App, such as theme (light/dark), default vehicle type, and language.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected solely to enable the features of the App. Your data is used for the following purposes:
- To Save and Display Your Parking Location: To record the GPS coordinates of your parked vehicle and display it on a map within the App.
- To Provide Navigation: To launch third-party map applications (like Google Maps or Apple Maps) to provide you with directions back to your saved location.
- To Enhance Your Experience: To display your parking history, favorite locations, and any notes or photos you have added to a specific parking entry.
- To Allow Sharing: To enable you to share your parking location details (including coordinates and time) with others through messaging or other apps on your device. This action is initiated entirely by you.
- To Personalize the App: To apply your preferred language and theme settings.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data collected by the App is stored locally on your device's internal storage.
- We do not use any external servers to store your personal data, such as your location history, notes, or photos.
- The developer has no access to any of the personal information you save in the App.
- Since the data resides on your device, its security is linked to the overall security of your device. We recommend you use a secure passcode and follow best practices for mobile device security.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. However, some data may be shared with third-party services to provide core app functionalities, but only upon your action:
- Geocoding Services: When a location is saved, its coordinates (latitude and longitude) may be sent to a third-party geocoding service (such as Apple's or Google's) to retrieve a human-readable address. This process is anonymized to the extent possible by the service provider.
- Navigation Services: When you choose to navigate to your vehicle, the App passes the saved coordinates to your selected map application (e.g., Google Maps, Apple Maps). Their use of this data is governed by their respective privacy policies.
- User-Initiated Sharing: The "Share" feature allows you to send your parking details to others using applications installed on your device. The App simply prepares the content for you to send; you control who receives it.
6. Permissions
To provide its services, the App requires the following permissions on your device:
- Location Access: Essential for the core functionality of finding and saving your vehicle's location. The App only accesses your location when you actively use it to save a location or view your current position relative to your parked car.
- Camera Access (Optional): Required only if you wish to take photos of your parking spot to add to your parking records.
- Photo Library Access (Optional): Required only if you wish to select existing photos from your gallery to add to your parking records.
You can manage these permissions at any time through your device's settings.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. You can:
- Access and View all your saved parking locations and associated details within the App.
- Edit and Modify any information you have previously saved, including notes, photos, and parking spot details.
- Delete any or all of your data at any time directly from the App. Deleting parking history or clearing photos will permanently remove them from your device.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
